Dr. Yong Xia graduated from the Department of Medicine in Chinese Medical Science University in 1983 and had practised Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which involved acupuncture and herbal medicine in Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for 15 years. She had also been teaching TCM to undergraduates and postgraduates and was a renowned researcher during her time there. 51 articles were published in major national medical journals in China. She was a co-author of two books which were Holographic Medical Science and Clinical Research and Case Studies for Traditional Chinese Medicine. Three research and development awards were won which included the childbirth pain relief study. This was a collaboration with Beijing Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital. She was appointed Associate Professor of Technical and Experimental Acupuncture and Associate Professor of Treatment by Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine in 1995.

In 1998, Dr. Xia was invited to work in the UK and has been working in Epsom, Surrey for the last 17 years. She has successfully treated over hundreds of patients with various conditions. Dr. Xia had also hosted seminars in Middlesex University and is a member of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture UK (ATCM).
