Agnes Ryu is the founder of Dr Ryu Natural Medicine in Wimbledon, South West London, and an integrative and functional medicine practitioner specialising in fertility, hormonal and metabolic health. With over 30 years in clinical medicine, her work centres on a metabolic-bioenergetic approach — treating fertility and hormonal conditions as downstream expressions of mitochondrial function, insulin regulation, thyroid health, and inflammation, rather than as isolated problems.

She qualified as a Licensed Oriental Medicine Physician in Korea in 1995 (six-year integrative Eastern–Western degree, top 1%) and holds an MSc in Human Physiology. From 1996 to 2001 she worked as a research biochemist at the Natural Products Research Institute, Seoul National University, while practising in stroke urgent care and rehabilitation at an integrated East–West hospital. In the UK from 2001, she taught physiology and diagnostics at the Asante Academy of Chinese Medicine, Middlesex University, and delivered postgraduate courses to physicians across continental Europe. She has been in private practice since 2004.

Her approach is individualised: identifying the specific biological drivers behind each patient’s presentation rather than applying generic protocols. Treatment integrates acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional therapy, and myofascial and soft-tissue work, tailored to each patient.
