Susan May completed a post graduate course at the British College of Acupuncture, London, graduating in 1989 with a Licentiate in Acupuncture with distinction.
She worked in multi-disciplinary clinics in the north east of Scotland, practising Traditional Chinese Acupuncture.
From 1990 to 1999, she also worked as a member of the Chronic Pain team in the Department of Anaesthetics, Aberdeen Royal infirmary, becoming a member of The Pain Society. She lectured to nurses and developed coursework for The University of Robert Gordon’s nursing degree.
In 1993, she complete a short Clinical studies course at the Red Cross Hospital, Hangzhou, China.
In 1999, she completed levels 1 – 4 in Counselling skills at Aberdeen University, to further work with patients addicted to pain medication.
In 2003, she completed a Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine at The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading.
In 2012, she attended Steve Clavey’s Chinese Herbal Medicine Clinic , Melbourne for clinical observation and the preparation and dispensing of raw herbs.
Since then, she continues in general practice with a special interest in problems of infertility.
She is also a member of The Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine
