  ATCM Council

According to ATCM’s constitution, the affairs of ATCM are managed by the council. The seven or sometimes nine council members were elected by all members with a 2-year term. Normally council members are met every two months to discuss the issues related to ATCM’s affairs and development.

There are six committees associated to the Council. Committees affiliated to the Council.
Education Committee; Academic Committee; Professional Conduct Committee; Editorial Committee; Public Relations Committee; Research Committee

Each council member chairs one committee.
Council also have an A advisory group which consisted by senior members of the association. Advisors are advised by council members while make heavy decision.

Main Current Career: TCM practitioner; senior lecturer in University of Lincoln.

Qualifications: Master degree in TCM, Beijing University of TCM, obtained in 1988; Bachelor degree in TCM, Shanghai University of TCM, obtained in 1982.
TCM Experience: Over 10 years in practising and teaching TCM in China, UK practice since 1995; Associate professor in TCM, Beijing University of TCM, 1993-1995; Lecturer in TCM, Beijing University of TCM, 1988-1993. Main Current Career: Senior lecturer and programme leader of TCM, Middlesex University.

Qualifications: PhD in medicine, University of London 1995; MSc in Medicine Oxford University 1991; Bachelor of Medicine, Guangzhou University of TCM, 1983; Fellow, Royal Society of Medicine; Member and Fellow, ATCM Member, BAcC.
TCM Experience: Over 30 years experience in TCM. Started medical career in 1975 when he became an apprentice to a famous practitioner of Chinese medicine in Guangdong, China. Lecturer in TCM, Guangzhou University of TCM, 1983-1986. Senior Lecturer in TCM, Middlesex University since 2000.

Other Professional Experiences: More than 15 years molecular biological research into bone and joint diseases in his time in Oxford and London. Member of the Department of Health’s Steering Group on the Regulation of Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Member of Council of Heads of Acupuncture Courses.

Andreas FEYLER

Mr. Andreas Feyler graduated from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia with a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Chinese Medicine in 1999. Prior to this Andreas completed a year clinical internship at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of
Traditional Chinese Medicine in Jiang Su province in China. Since coming to the UK in 2000 Andreas has been working for ShiZhen TCM UK ltd and later for Shulan UK ltd as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine practicing both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in various busy branch clinics throughout the North West. Andreas has been a member of the ATCM since 2001 and became a fellow in 2006. He is also a member of the British Acupuncture Council and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine. Andreas has also been teaching the Herbal Patent Course and the 3 year raw herb course at Shulan College in Manchester. Andreas was also the chief editor and co-contributor to the Chinese Herbal Patent Handbook by Shulan Tang.

Currently Andreas is the module leader for the Chinese Medicine degree program at the North East Wales Institute affiliated with the University of Wales. Andreas is teaching the Acupuncture and Syndrome Differentiation module, the Chinese Herbal Medicine – Patent Formulae module, and the Clinical Studies – Acupuncture module. He is also one the clinical supervisors at the teaching clinic.

Dr D. J. Atherton MB, BChir, FRCP
David Atherton is a children's skin specialist based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London.

He was the UK's first full-time children's dermatologist when appointed as consultant in the speciality at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in 1982. Since then he has worked to build up a department
which can provide specialised services for children with every type of serious skin problem. He also works at St John's Institute of Dermatology in St Thomas' Hospital, London. David deals with the full spectrum of serious skin diseases that occur in children. In addition he has special interests in eczema, haemangiomas and a variety of birthmarks, particularly pigmented birthmarks. He is actively involved in research, and has published 138 papers and 31 reviews in dermatology and paediatric journals, 31 chapters in books on children's dermatology and 2 books for parents of children with eczema. He was active in the establishment of a British Society for Paediatric Dermatology, of which he was the first president. He remains involved in the administration of the Society which has an important role in the promotion of high quality children's dermatology in the UK.

David has also worked closely with many patient support groups, including DEBRA (epidermolysis bullosa), Birthmark Support Group, National Eczema Society and the Ectodermal Dysplasia Society.

Dr David Atherton is a great supporter of Chinese medicine; He is the Chair of Traditional Chinese Medicine Accreditation Board (UK).

David's wife is a Chinese doctor and a member of ATCM, practising traditional Chinese medicine. He has 4 sons.
 
Professor Kanwen MA
Professor Kan-Wen Ma was a Senior Research Fellow and Professor at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Beijing, China. He is currently an Honorary Senior Research Fellow to the wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine at University College London. He has been appointed as senior adviser to several academic and professional institutes and organisations, including the World
Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies; The National Committee for the Standardisation of Chinese Medicine Terminology, Beijing. He is also a member of the editorial board of several medical journals. As an author or co-author he has published over 12 books and 160 articles relating to Chinese medicine and the history of medicine. He is one of the founders of ATCM.


Honorary President

Dr Dinghui Luo
The Founder of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine (UK). Dr. Dinghui Luo graduated from the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in 1970. She worked as a physician and pediatrician at the Guangdong Provincial TCM Hospital till 1981. She was appointed as Visiting Professor to her Alma Mater then.
She came to practice at China Town, London in 1980s. During her 23 years practice in London, She has attached positive media attention for her effective treatment of skin disorders, in particular for the treatment of steroid-resistant eczema. This ground-breaking work was published in a series of major medical journals such as The Lancet and British Medical Journal. She co-edited several books, including the “Immunopharmacology of Traditional Chinese Medicine ". She founded ATCM in 1994; as the first President to the ATCM, she offered over four years excellent service. She was elected a Senior Adviser and Hon. Vice-Chairperson to the World Federation of Chinese medicine Societies.
